EFCC declares Maina, former pension chairman, wanted

 

Abuja, Sept. 24, 2026 – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Abdulrasheed Maina, a former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, wanted.

The EFCC declared him wanted on Wednesday in a notice posted on its official X handle signed by its Head, Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.

The notice reads: “The public is hereby notified that Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties.

“Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices.

“Maina, 61, is an indigene of Biu in Borno State. Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies,” it added.

Maina has since been standing trial over alleged money laundering and was extradited to Nigeria to face trial in 2020.

He was arrested in Niamey, the capital of the Republic, after he jumped bail and was declared wanted by an Abuja High Court.
